Product Details

Little Feats THE LAST RECORD ALBUM arrived in October 1975, lean and sly, with the band deep in its creative stride. Nearly 50 years later, the album returns in a newly remastered and expanded edition that brings fresh light to one of the most quietly compelling records in the bands catalog.

All formats include the newly remastered album along with rarities and previouslyunreleased studio material.

Arriving October 17, 1975, THE LAST RECORD ALBUM marked a shift in the groups creative balance. The lineupLowell George, Richie Hayward, Paul Barrre, Bill Payne, Kenny Gradney, and Sam Claytonhad coalesced over several albums, but this was the moment when the full range of their songwriting voices stepped forward. George delivered the aching ballad Long Distance Love, Barrre co-wrote the crowd favorite All That You Dream, and Payne contributed the expansive Day Or Nighttracks that quickly became staples of the bands live show.

The expanded edition takes a deeper look at the album sessions, collecting early sketches, raw demos, and alternate takes. Highlights include previously unreleased versions of Mercenary Territory, All That You Dream, and Long Distance Love, along with an instrumental take on Day or Night.

The Boston performance was recorded just two weeks after the albums release and shows how quickly the new material had been absorbed into the bands live show. Day Or Night, All That You Dream, Romance Dance, and Long Distance Love appear alongside longtime staples like Fat Man In The Bathtub, Oh Atlanta, and Willin. The concert captures a band locked into a groove that would crest in 1977 with WAITING FOR COLUMBUS widely regarded as one of the greatest live recordings of all time.

Liner notes by historian Dennis McNally explore the dynamics shaping the album, the titles satirical nod to Hollywood mythmaking, and the return of the groups longtime visual artist, Neon Park, whose gelatinous skyline and jackalope imagery remain among the most memorable in the Feat catalog.
